Exhibition "Scenic Journey to India"

From February 5 to March 7, 2016, a personal exhibition by Sergey Takhtamyshev and Anastasia Vostretsova “A Picturesque Journey to India” will be held at the Mokhovaya-18 Gallery of Modern Art. Artists will present a series of paintings made during a creative trip to India in the spring of 2014. Exotic country - bright, luxurious, with an ancient culture, amazing rituals and secrets of philosophy conquered young painters. “Having plunged into the life of India, we never ceased to be amazed at the naturalness of people so harmoniously existing in the world around us. At the same time, there is a lot of theatricality in Indian life. We felt inside the action with beautiful scenery, and it was hard to imagine that this is the daily life of India, ”the artists themselves say.

In addition to the landscape and still life, choosing the ethnic, folk color as the starting point, Sergey Takhtamyshev and Anastasia Vostretsova depict genre scenes of the life of local residents: whether it is a family wedding celebration or the mystery of ancient folk dances with sabers, the lives of shepherds in the mountains, women selling fish and fruit at the local city market.

A realistic style of writing, elaboration of details, field observation, conveying mood and philosophical context make the work of this cycle very interesting. In the paintings of this series, architectural and sculptural details become elements of composition and fill them with a spiritual beginning, using the language of symbols. The architecture of the temples of ancient civilization in combination with modern urban culture allows you to immerse yourself in the world of enchanting India.
