XII Ceremony of Presentation of the Cinematography Award "White Square"

April 18, 2016 in the "Gogol Center" will be the XII Ceremony of awarding the cameraman art "White Square". The prize is awarded for best cinematography in a feature film.

The jury this year included: director Kirill Serebrennikov, actress Alyona Babenko, cameraman Pyotr Dukhovskoy, film expert Nikolai Borodachev, cameraman Sergei Trofimov, artist Sergei Fevalyov. Chairman of the jury, cameraman Oleg Lukichev.

“You should create the dramaturgy of the image, and not be enthusiastic about the high-quality“ picture ”. And the nominees coped with this task. The hardest part for us is to choose the best of the best, ”commented Igor Klebanov, President of the White Square Award.

This time, the organizers will combine the work for 2014 and 2015. 10 projects reached the final of the vote.

• Levan KAPANADZE for the film "Test"
• Mikhail KRICHMAN for the film "Leviathan"
• Sergey MACHILSKY for the film "Chagall-Malevich"
• Vladislav OPELYANTS for the film "Sunstroke"
• Alexander SIMONOV for the film "White Nights of the Postman Alexei Tryapitsyn"

Award nominees for best work in a production film of 2015:

• Igor GRINYAKIN for the film "Territory"
• Pavel KAPINOS for the film "Duhless"
• Gennady KARYUK for the film "The End of a Beautiful Era"
• Yuri KOROL for the film "The Battle of Sevastopol"
• Yuri RAYSKY for the film "Orleans"

The winner in the special nomination "For Contribution to Camera Art" in 2016 has already been announced - it was Lomer Bidzinovich AHVLEDIANI.

The White Square Prize was founded by the Guild of Cinematographers of the Union of Russian Filmmakers in 2004 with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Russian Filmmakers, the Russian Culture Foundation and the film company GDP Alliance and the support of the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia.
