Svetlana, simply put, I like beautiful pictures, and thats why the gallery was created. The idea is to create a collection, but given my resources, its being built on the internet and made accessible to everyone.
I really like Ivan Aivazovskys artwork. Would it be possible to add some information about the paintings themselves? It would be interesting to read about their creation history.
Vladimir, it would be nice, of course, but right now all our efforts are focused on processing new albums! And we already have thousands of images on the site. Were hoping for your comments... ;)
I cant download the image at the full declared size. For some reason, instead of downloading a file that is 1.5-2 MB, Im getting a 200-300 MB file with reduced quality. What should I do?

The subtext of this painting is one of heroic defiance and courage in the face of overwhelming odds. The Brig Mercury, a smaller Russian naval brig, famously fought valiantly against two larger Turkish frigates in 1829 during the Russo-Turkish War. The painting captures this moment of desperate struggle, emphasizing the bravery of the Russian crew against a superior force. The turbulent sea and stormy sky can be interpreted as metaphors for the perilous situation and the emotional turmoil of battle. The prominent depiction of the Brig Mercury and its active engagement suggests a celebration of Russian naval prowess and a triumph of spirit over brute strength. The painting likely serves as a patriotic symbol, commemorating a significant historical event and inspiring national pride.
