THE SWAN AND THE GOOSE
The god within the swan is strong.
As a god, the loss of power is unlikely
To threaten him; he would not wish to play hide-and-seek.
But for the woman, such strength –
Such an extraordinary passion –
Is a secret that the god reveals within himself at that moment.
How heavy is it?
A normal female bottom with wide hips. How else could it accommodate two eggs, each of which is much larger than a babys head?

The subtext of this painting, based on the Greek myth, is the divine intervention and seduction of a mortal woman by Zeus, who disguised himself as a swan. This union resulted in the birth of Helen of Troy, Clytemnestra, and the Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux). The painting explores themes of divine power, human vulnerability, sexuality, and the consequences of desire. The intimate and somewhat unsettling interaction between Leda and the swan can be interpreted as a representation of forced union or the overwhelming nature of divine will upon mortal existence. The beauty of Ledas form, contrasted with the primal encounter, highlights the complex relationship between the divine and the human, and the cyclical nature of power and fate.
