Komsomolsk-on-Amur celebrates the anniversary of the artist Miyamoto Tsutomu exhibition

The Komsomolsk-on-Amur Museum of Art invites you to visit an exhibition of works by Japanese artist Miyamoto Tsutomu dedicated to his ninetieth birthday. All the works that made up the exhibition were stored in the museum, to which the master donated more than five hundred of his works.

The artist’s long-standing friendship with the museum began in 1996, when an exhibition of his works was first organized. Later, Miyamoto Tsutomu’s solo exhibitions were held at the museum more than once. And now, once again, painting lovers have the opportunity to see works in which all the facets of the artist’s talent are visible.

The exposition also contains picturesque oil paintings, and graphics, and watercolors. The unusual manner of painting with oil paints, which allows you to get relief forms in the paintings, always attracts visitors. A special place at the exhibition is occupied by traditional Japanese calligraphy works made on hand-made paper, as well as, known since ancient times, turning paper into works of art using ordinary scissors.

Miyamoto Tsutomu dreamed of becoming an artist from an early age, but fate was such that he received a technical education, after graduating from high school he worked at a military factory. However, painting classes accompanied all the years of his work in production. In 1944, the young man was drafted into the army, followed by captivity and a prisoner of war camp in the Far East.

After returning to his homeland in 1949, Miyamoto Tsutomu taught at the higher school for more than thirty years, while simultaneously doing creative work. His solo exhibitions enjoy tremendous success at home. The artist is full of strength and ideas, and his fans expect new works by the master.
