The exhibition of the famous artist Dmitry Zhilinsky is open in the Russian Museum

Today, November 14, a personal exhibition of the famous contemporary artist Dmitry Zhilinsky opens in the Russian Museum of St. Petersburg. The exhibition will present paintings and graphic works by the artist of different periods, presented at the exhibition by the Russian Museum, the Russian Academy of Arts, private collections, as well as from the workshop of Dmitry Zhilinsky.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see not only iconic paintings for the artist, written by him in the mid-sixties, thanks to which Dmitry Zhilinsky gained recognition and fame, but also new ones, written not so long ago. Inspection of the works of Zhilinsky allows visitors to get acquainted with the unique manner of the artist, which reflected the traditions of European masters who wrote their works in the Renaissance and paintings of Ancient Russia.

It is believed that Dmitry Zhilinsky is close to the classical direction of painting, but features of realism are also visible in his works. The main thing that brings the painter closer to the classical artists is the creation by Zhilinsky of his inherent painting style. For paintings, monumental in size, the use of pure color is characteristic, they do not have a variety of shades, but there are many carefully written details. This makes recognizable the unique author’s style of the artist.

The technique of writing tempera on a wooden board, mastered by Dmitry Zhilinsky, gives his works even more similarities with the paintings of ancient Russian masters. Of great interest to the audience are portraits painted by the master with images of contemporaries. Among them are not only famous people like Svyatoslav Richter, but also members of the artist’s family, plot scenes. You can see the pictures of a positive, romantic master until January 14.
