The nature of the Kola Peninsula in the graphic artist Irina Sitdikova

MURMANSK. On April 3, the Regional Art Museum in the small hall presented a solo exhibition by the artist from the city of Apatity, Irina Sitdikova, “Land of Tre”. The exhibition includes more than thirty graphic sheets dedicated to the ancient Kola Territory, with its extraordinary beauty and unique wildlife. Among them there are works that depict the characters of folklore of local nationalities.

Irina Vitalyevna says that landscapes in which there are no animals seem empty and unfinished to her. Perhaps this is the reason that almost every work of the artist includes representatives of animals living in the Kola Territory. One of Irina’s favorite animal images is the bear, about which the artist says that in her works he becomes a symbol of the forest.

The name of the exhibition has two meanings, one of which is the name of the historical almanac with a name - “Land of Tre”, and also in ancient times the locals called the Kola Peninsula. Illustrations for the almanac also entered the exhibition.

Irina Sitdikova was born in the Chelyabinsk region, but since 1981, her life has been connected with the Apatity. Irina received her professional education at the art school of the city of Perm, and her first exhibition was held in the city of Apatity. The main work of the artist in recent years is to illustrate books published by the Kola Wildlife Conservation Center.

Irina Vitalievna owns various painting techniques. She has ink, gouache and feather works, and her graphic works made using the gratt technique are sometimes mistaken for printed engravings.

The works of Irina Sitdikova decorate private collections of Russian and foreign graphic collectors. The exhibition in Murmansk will be available to visitors until June 2nd.
