The history of avant-garde art at the exhibition "Decoration of the Beautiful"

ROSTOV-ON-DON. In the “16thLINE” Gallery, which represents contemporary art, on November 14, the presentation of the “Decoration of the Beautiful” exhibition was organized by the Department of the Newest Trends of the Tretyakov Gallery. For the first time this exhibition was presented in December last year in the halls of the Tretyakov Gallery, and in the early autumn of this year, residents of Voronezh saw it.

Before the opening of the exhibition, a meeting was held between representatives of city mass media and the head of the Department of New Trends, Kirill Svetlyakov, who arrived from the capital. He spoke about the concepts of beauty in contemporary art, about the works presented at the exhibition, as well as about authors working in this unusual genre.

The exhibition arrived in Rostov thanks to the long-term ties of its organizers with the 16thLINE Gallery. Kirill Svetlyakov decided to show the Rostovites how interesting the perception of works of contemporary art related to folklore material is.

The exhibition got its name from a series of works performed by the Rostov artist Valery Koshlyakov. While working as an artist in one of the theaters of the city, he collected old photographs of actors and, against their background, painted pictures using a manner of abstract expressionism. The name of this series was the same as the opening exhibition.

The idea of creating this exhibition came to Svetlyakov after meeting with a private collection of paintings made on oilcloths. The result was the exposition of the exhibition, allowing through the antithesis of avant-garde art - kitsch, to read the history of the avant-garde.

During the month of the exhibition you can get acquainted with the works of many famous artists, performed from the middle to the end of the last century. In addition to painting, sculptures and video installations are included in the exposition.
