ROSTOV-ON-DON. The performance “Inspector” at the Rostov Drama Theater on February 12 begins the memory days dedicated to the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Nikolai Sorokin. Nikolai Sorokin was associated with the Rostov Drama Theater from the very beginning of his acting career. He came to the theater immediately after graduating from the Rostov School of Arts in 1975, then continued his education at GITIS. Immediately after graduation in 1984, he returned from the capital back to the Rostov Theater, already having the profession of director in his professional luggage.

Over the years of acting, Nikolai Evgenievich created many images of heroes of classical and modern plays on the stage of the Rostov Theater. He was Chekhov’s Lopakhin and Makar Nagulnov from Raised Virgin Soil, Salieri and Boris Godunov. He was recognized by spectators on the streets of Rostov.

Since 1996, Nikolai Sorokin becomes the artistic director of the theater, which became his family, ten years later he takes the position of its director.

During this time, for four years he combined the work of the theater director with work in Moscow, in the State Duma, and since 2004, with the teaching work in the Rostov branch of the University of Arts of St. Petersburg. This amazingly talented person passed away too soon, but managed to do so much in it that one can only envy kindly.

The Rostov Drama Theater owes much of its success to its artistic director Nikolai Sorokin. As a tribute to the blessed memory of his Master, the best performances staged by Nikolai Evgenievich as a director in different years will play on the stage of the theater on February 16th.
