Painting by Alexander Grekov at the exhibition "Case History"

YEKATERINBURG. The Gallery of Modern Art on November 7 opens an exclusive exhibition of paintings by Perm artist Alexander Grekov - “Case History”. The exhibition includes several series of works in which Alexander Grekov presents his perception of historical events that took place in the past century.

The artist was able to acutely feel the changes taking place during these years, these feelings were expressed in the tragic images he created. The name of the exhibition fully corresponds to the canvases presented in it, really showing the history of the disease of the twentieth century. The world of paintings written by Alexander Grekov lives on the verge of reality and the subconscious.

Gallery Director Ekaterina Khotinova, in her invitation to the exhibition, compared the artist’s work with a contrast shower. Indeed, against the backdrop of a society, most of which is occupied by empty conversations, Grekov’s canvases attract attention, giving rise to thoughts about history, about the fates of people who lived at the turn of the era.

Many of the paintings in the series presented at the exhibition have already been shown at prestigious exhibition venues in the country. Viewers in Moscow and St. Petersburg managed to see some of the works from the series “Stalin’s Empire Style”, “Hammer of the Witches”, “The Nightingale Garden”. Some of the works were written by Alexander Grekov specifically for the exhibition, which opened in Yekaterinburg.

Due to the high level of mastery of the technique of painting and the ability to empathize, complementing his special look at the world around him, the canvases made by Alexander Grekov occupy a worthy place in museum collections and private collections. His works are in the St. Petersburg Museum “Erarta”, in the fund “New Collection” ".

The exhibition is waiting for visitors until December 1st.
