Historical canvases of famous artists from the museums of the capital in Ulyanovsk

Ulyanovsk. In the evening on December 12, an exhibition was opened in the regional art museum, organized thanks to cooperation with the Tretyakov Gallery and the Historical Museum. Residents of Ulyanovsk got a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes the historical canvases painted by famous masters.

The events displayed on the canvases included in the exhibition "Historical paintings of Russian artists" remained in the distant past. However, if you look at the paintings written by great artists, you get a sense of ownership in the moments displayed on the canvas. As if the edge of the curtain was opened, separating our days from time, a piece of which was miraculously preserved in the picture.

From the Historical Museum in Ulyanovsk brought a picture of Ilya Repin, which for about a hundred years has been in the storerooms of the museum. The author worked on the painting “Haidamaki in Uman preparing weapons” for almost twenty years, rewriting it many times. Only in 1917, he considered the work on it completed. The restoration of the painting, damaged as a result of such a long storage, took four years. Only in 2011, the canvas took a place in the museum.

The bulk of the works of art presented to the Ulyanovsk people arrived at the art museum from the Tretyakov Gallery. The exposition included the original versions of famous paintings written by V. Surikov, which are the pride of one of the country’s main museums - “The Conquest of Siberia by Ermak” and “Boyar Morozov”. The painting created by Surikov while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, entitled “The Princely Court”, was provided by the Tretyakov Gallery in the original.

Pictures presented at the exhibition, dedicated to different periods of Russian history, can be seen until March 15th.
