Unique archival documents, genuine photographs, a specially created series of short films using archive newsreels (director Elena Yakovich), battle maps, military marches, songs and couplets of the early twentieth century in authentic performance, thematic interactive stands (“Outstanding commanders”, “Bet” are exhibited) ”,“ War of new technologies ”,“ Russian Expeditionary Force ”and others), holograms of the“ latest ”weapons of the First World War. Vivid artistic images, dynamic theater architecture will allow you to immerse yourself in the alarming and complex atmosphere of the Great War, create a sense of personal presence and participation in the events of 1914 - 1918, in the literal sense of “look into the eyes of the war”.

Together with documentary materials, paintings from collections of the Imperial War Museum in London, the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, and graphics from private collections are presented. Passionate “Archangel Michael” by Viktor Vasnetsov, full of sensations of the grandiose tragedy of the “German War” by Pavel Filonov and the “Sanitary Train” by Gino Severini, testifying to a completely new picture of Richard Carlin’s “Craters” seen from the air and the desperate “Rising” Paul Nash allegory by Natalia Goncharova and laconic geometry of Alexei Kruchenyh demonstrate how they disintegrated under the pressure of bloody events of art form.

The exposition gives the most complete picture of Russia’s participation in the First World War. The focal point of the exhibition is the “river of time”, designed to specify the events of the war, to give the viewer comprehensive information about the course of hostilities. Interactive screens will display a temporary chronological scale of events, illustrated with photographs, maps of military operations, documents, and memoirs of participants in the war.

The exhibition’s epilogue will be the “Gallery of St. George Knights” - where on two huge screens photographs of officers and soldiers recognized (such as S. M. Budenny or K. K. Rokossovsky) and nameless heroes of the First World War appear and disappear.
