"Improvisionism in persons" - the name of his exhibition in Tver Vladimir artist Sergei Ignatov

TVER. An exhibition of paintings by Sergei Ignatov, an artist from Vladimir, opened in the small hall of the city IEC on January 30 under the name "Improvisationism in Faces". The exposition included about thirty works made in the original technique. The artist himself says that this technique, called “improvisionism” by him, appeared in his work by chance, due to a lack of time when working in the open air.

This technique involves the execution of the canvas in one session, when there is no time for thought. The painter plays with color, boldly and abundantly mixes paints on canvas. Among the presented paintings there are no traditional landscapes and "ceremonial" portraits. Sergei Ignatov is interested in social issues.

The heroes of his paintings represent those aspects of life that are usually not talked about much. The work of Sergei Ignatov is not always accepted even by his colleagues, and for many viewers who are accustomed to lyrical landscapes and realistic genre paintings, his work is incomprehensible.

Each canvas created by Ignatov contains a story of the heroes of the picture, and in order to read it, you need to comprehend its content. The artist himself says that creating a series of visual images in his works, he is trying to direct the audience along the path of spiritual and emotional insight. Each detail of the canvas carries a certain semantic load. To understand Ignatov’s paintings, you need to stop in front of each canvas and carefully look at it. Thoughts arising from this will open a new world, born of the soul of the artist.

Sergey Ignatov received the profession of an artist in Vladimir, where in 1983 he graduated from VGPU, art and graphic department. Since 2001, a member of the Union of Designers of the Russian Federation. A successful participant in many exhibitions. Ignatov’s exhibition in Tver is open until March 15th.
