Graphics artist Mark Klyachko from the collection of the Tver picture gallery presented in the museum of V. Serov

TVER. The V. Serov Memorial and Art Museum, located in the village of Emmaus, invites visitors to get acquainted with the exhibition “Literary Images of Mark Klyachko”, open until April 5th. Graphic works presented in the exhibition hall provide an opportunity to see the works of the talented master of book graphics, performed by him in the 20th century. All exhibits were provided by the Tver Picture Gallery.

A native of Rostov-on-Don, the artist graduated from the Metropolitan Institute. Surikov. His thesis became illustrations for Gorky’s "Early Tales." The works were highly appreciated by colleagues and critics, and the Moscow Museum of M, Gorky purchased them for his collection.

Studying at the Surikov Institute was completed in 1949. After just a year, the young artist received an order from Goslitizdat. He was entrusted with the creation of illustrations for the books “Unusual Summer” and “First Joys”. The author of these novels was one of the extremely popular authors of that time - Konstantin Fedin.

Then a series of illustrations was created for Sevastopol Tales (these works are stored in the Yasnaya Polyana Museum), Goncharov’s novel Oblomov. The publication "Selected Works" by M. Gorky was also designed by Mark Klyachko. Thanks to these works, the artist in the fifties tal one of the most famous masters of book graphics.

In 1959, Mark Klyachko illustrated the novels of the Italian writer Luigi Pirandello. These works of the artist were acquired by the Tretyakov Gallery. Since 1960, the work of Mark Klyachko became "Soviet writer", where he designed books by more than a hundred authors. At the same time, the artist worked as a teacher and created paintings and large-scale graphic works. Many of the works of Mark Klyachko acquired the largest museums in the country.
