Portraits of Vakhtangov artists at the exhibition of Ilya Komov in the Pushkin Museum

MOSCOW. The personal exhibition of Ilya Komov, which opened at the A. Pushkin Museum on April 3, is waiting for visitors. The famous artist presented his work under the title “Duel”. This is the name of the canvas, where Lensky and Onegin appear at the duel barrier in front of the audience. This picture is not a figment of the imagination of Ilya Komov. It depicts real people - the famous artists of the Vakhtangov Theater V. Simonov and V. Dobronravov, who play roles in the play "Eugene Onegin."

This exhibition will be interesting to both connoisseurs of painting and fans of theater art. The basis of the exposition was a series of portraits in which visitors to the museum will be able to see famous actors in the images created by them on the stage of the Vakhtangov Theater. Most of the portraits were painted recently, last year. The painting “Duel” marked the year of its creation - 2014.

At the same time, portraits of Lyudmila Maksakova, performer of the role of a nanny in Onegin, Olga Lerman, in a magnificent image of Tatyana, were painted. In the portraits, the most recognizable Vakhtangans are Julia Rutberg, Evgeny Knyazev and other artists of the theater, which has long become a symbol of the Old Arbat. All portraits were painted by the artist only from nature. Ilya Komov never uses photographs to create portraits. He says that to achieve the authenticity of the picture, you can only use the direct contact of the artist and model.

The exhibition included not only a portrait gallery of Vakhtangov artists who created unforgettable images of heroes of Pushkin’s works. Ilya Komov selected for his personal exhibition other paintings that the painter associates with the name of Pushkin. Among them are landscapes of Russian cities where there are Pushkin places.
