In Irkutsk, an exhibition of graphics by famous artists - Dali, Matisse and Chagall

IRKUTSK. The city art museum is waiting for art lovers who want to get acquainted with the works of world famous artists, whose work determined the face of modernism, outlining its main trends. Without these great masters who had made a real revolution in art, such directions as surrealism, abstractionism, cubism, Fauvism would not have appeared.

The meaning of some of these terms is known only to experts in art, but the names of the authors whose works were included in the exposition “The Great Classics of the Twentieth Century”, which opened on June 17 at the Irkutsk Museum of Art, need no introduction. The exhibition housed 57 works created by Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall.

Artists with their creations claimed that with the help of art you can change your life. Indeed, modernism has stepped over the walls of exhibition halls. Continuing to develop in design, architecture and other forms of art, became a whole era in creativity. The largest number of experimental works in modernism accounted for painting and graphics.

The exhibition of the works of the founders of modernism, which opened in Irkutsk, is formed from graphic works. The display of these works to the Russian public became possible thanks to the initiative of a group of investors from Krasnoyarsk. They acquired graphic works of the great classics abroad to show the inhabitants of Russia the works of legendary artists.

It is beyond the power of private investors to organize an exhibition of paintings by these artists. However, acquaintance with lithographs, sometimes repeating pictorial compositions, sometimes created as independent works, is no less interesting to the public.

The exhibition of legendary artists is open on August 9th.
