Irkutsk Art Museum presented an exhibition of works by Ilya Repin from his collection Automatic translate

IRKUTSK. The museum employees. Sukachev was celebrated with the birthday of Ilya Repin, the famous Peredvizhnik artist, with the opening of an exhibition of the collection of works by the master stored in the museum collection. Such an exhibition takes place at the museum for the first time, although one of Repin’s works is housed in his permanent exhibition. Repin painted the painting “The Pauper” in 1874, and V. Sukachev purchased it personally from the author, having visited St. Petersburg. She wanted to get this painting into her Tretyakov collection, however, it still remained in Irkutsk.

Visitors to the opening exhibition have not yet seen the rest of Repin’s works. The exhibition space housed five graphic works and four paintings, executed by Ilya Repin at different times. Among them are two unique etchings depicting sitters, as well as pastel drawing “Lucky Horse”. This pastel entered the museum collection in 1934 from a resident of Irkutsk, M. Ya. Leibovich.

In 1961, the museum was donated by a collector from Moscow F. E. Vishnevsky unique painting Repin "Portrait of a Lady." This work of the artist is interesting not only for its artistic merits - Repin created it at a time when he could only work with his left hand.

The sketch “On the Bottom of the Sea” entered the museum collection in 1965 from the collection of collector Yu. Nevzorov, and two portraits, made in graphics, which depict critic V.V. Stasov, previously belonged to the collection of N. Velichko. Another picturesque canvas adorned the exposition - “Italian”. This painting dates from the 1870th year. Each of Repin’s works in the museum collection has its own story.

The exhibition, which opened on August 5, will be open at the end of the month, and on August 6 there will be a free tour dedicated to the famous Russian Wanderers.
