MOSCOW. Italian art is again waiting for its fans in the Pushkin Museum to them. Pushkin. Since September 20, in several halls of the museum a large-scale exposition - “Piranesi. Before and after". The unique personality of the famous graphic artist, who owns many genres of art, has had a strong influence on the work of artists of subsequent generations.
The museum staff who created the exhibition decided to give its visitors the opportunity to see the exhibition, allowing to see not only the work of Piranesi, but also the work of his predecessors and direct students. Their works are posted in the "Before" section.
In the “After” section, museum staff placed works by artists and architects who have been creating since the end of the 18th century. Among them are the works of architects who served at the court of Catherine II, the works of famous masters of the Russian avant-garde - Leonidov, Melnikov, Chernikov. The work of our contemporary, Valery Koshlyakov, is also included in this section of the exposition. The artist created the work specifically for this exhibition, devoting it to the great Piranesi.
The exposition includes about four hundred works. Of these, more than a hundred etchings were created by the master himself. For the first time in Russia, museum visitors will see engraving boards made by Piranesi. Exhibits for the exhibition were presented by museums and scientific institutions.
A unique exhibition is available to visitors to the Pushkin Museum until November 13.
