"Soul of the Russian North" in the works of Vologda masters

VOGDA. On June 10, an exhibition dedicated to painting, the leading art form of the Vologda Territory from the middle of the 20th century to the present day, began its work in the exhibition hall located on Kremlin Square. Creating the exposition of the exhibition “Soul of the Russian North”, the employees of the Vologda Krai art gallery selected the best paintings created by contemporary artists of the Vologda land from their collections.

The main criterion for selecting works for the exhibition was the display on them of the best qualities inherent in the residents of the Vologda region. Each of the canvases placed in the exhibition hall has an atmosphere full of sincerity and kindness, cordiality and hospitality, conscience and hard work.

The painting created by the artists of the Vologda Territory has always been distinguished by the creative personality of its creators, the diversity of their creative handwriting and performance styles. Therefore, the works placed in the exposition cannot be combined in style or color palette.

All the works of Vologda artists from whom the exposition is collected are united only by a theme that is most important in art. These are significant events in history, the unforgettable nature of the Vologda Territory and the life of ordinary people, the moments from which were captured on the canvases of painters.

Among the works selected for the exhibition are paintings by artists whose talent has already been appreciated in the art world, and next to the paintings of original young artists. Collected in a single space, they reflect the image of Vologda, its past and present, the richness of the culture of the region.

The exhibition of paintings is complemented by works representing arts and crafts. Lace, wood carving, ceramics and metal processing - these works also found a place in the exhibition hall.
