"Window of Alexander Tikhomirov" - an exhibition in memory of the Amur artist opened in Barnaul

BARNAUL. The exhibition, which opened on July 25, is dedicated to the memory of the national artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Tikhomirov. The exposition, presented under the title “Window of Alexander Tikhomirov”, is located in the hall of the Art Museum of the Altai Territory. The exhibition presents two areas of art in which Alexander Tikhomirov worked.

One of the creative directions is unique. The works, the theme of which became religious subjects, were made by tempera, and the old wooden shutters became the basis on which they were created. This material gives the artist’s works a special expressiveness. This creative direction was patented by Alexander Tikhomirov in 1995.

This part of the exhibition presents 24 works made in this author’s style. Museum visitors will be able to get acquainted with the work of the Saints cycle. Last year, they visited an exhibition in Paris. The window of Alexander Tikhomirov is in the collection of the art museum.

Critics call this creative direction, created by the artist, parable-metaphorical art, with which he penetrated the essence of the Russian icon, which reflects the ideas of Orthodoxy. In the intricate natural lines of the old tree, on which the unique works of Alexander Tikhomirov were created, he was looking for keys to the secret of creation, trying to join her.

The second part of the exhibition includes works written by the artist recently. In 2016, Alexander Tikhomirov visited Altai. The village of Srostki, the Katun River and the island of Patmos located on it - these landmark places for the region inspired the artist to create magnificent landscapes of Altai natural attractions. The artist’s family handed over one of these landscapes to the museum.

The exhibition runs until September 14th.
