YAROSLAVL. Since March 7, an exhibition of the works of Mikhail Nesterov, the famous Russian painter, has been waiting for visitors in the Yaroslavl Art Museum. Museum staff spent several years organizing this exhibition. It was extremely difficult to collect the works of the painter presented today in one place, as they were in various museums of the country, decorating their permanent exhibitions.

The works located in the exhibition hall provide an opportunity for guests to see the canvases that can be used to trace the artist’s creative career. In the exposition are adjacent works that are well known to the public, with little-known canvases.

In his works, the artist often supplemented the image of nature with the presence of man. So the painter in his work showed the subtlest connection of people with the surrounding nature. Present at the exposition are also genre paintings written by Mikhail Nesterov at different times.

The organizers of the exhibition were able to show the public the original illustrations of Mikhail Nesterov for a book written by Vasily Mikheev. The book, called “The Youth Martyr. Uglich Tradition. ” It tells a story not so famous as the murder of Tsarevich Dmitry, but no less tragic. Impressed by a visit to ancient Uglich by Mikhail Nesterov, he created the engravings included in the exposition.

The style in which the painter paints landscapes was created by him in his youth. They certainly present spring or autumn forest with its muffled greenery, red rowan clusters, white trunks of thin birches.

Later this style was named after the artist - "Nesterovsky". Present in the exposition and paintings on religious subjects, without which it is impossible to imagine the work of Mikhail Nesterov.

The exhibition is open until May 6.
