An exhibition "Masterpieces of painting and engraving of the Edo era" opened at the Pushkin Museum

In Moscow, the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin with the support of Rosneft "Masterpieces of painting and engraving of the Edo era" , which became the main event of the cross year of Russia and Japan. The exhibition shows the diversity of artistic movements of one of the most interesting periods in the history of Japanese art.

The exhibition presents 135 works by masters of Japanese painting and engraving of various traditional schools of the 17th-19th centuries. Many of them have already become iconic in the history of Japanese art and rarely leave the country. Most of the work was brought from Japan and will be shown in Russia for the first time. Two works have the status of “National Treasure”, nine have the status of “Especially valuable cultural object” and six have the status of “Especially valuable art object”.

Similar exhibitions are held once a decade. And even in comparison with the previous exhibitions brought from Japan, the exhibition at the Pushkin Museum is unprecedented, because the works that are iconic for Japanese art are shown. Such as the screen “God of the Wind and the God of Thunder” by Ogata Korin, this work adorns the covers of many publications on the history of Japanese art. ”

Exhibition at the Pushkin Museum. A. Pushkin will be held in two stages: the first part of the work, visitors will be able to see from September 4 to 30, and the second from October 3 to 28.
