D. Skorobegov’s book about the Irkutsk Musical Theater will remind his story

The publishing house Irkutsk has published the book “The Past Passes Before Me…”, which will become a real find for readers interested in the history of domestic theaters. This is a documentary story about the life of the Irkutsk Musical Theater from the day it was founded to the present day. The author of the book, Honored Worker of Culture Dmitry Skorobegov, knows about what was written in the work not from other people’s words. Of the 55 years of life devoted to theatrical activities, the musical theater of Irkutsk, the author gave 25 years, and 12 of them were the head of the theater. In his work, Dmitry Skorobegov used the documentation of the theater archive, preserved from the founding of the theater in 1941.

The history of the creation of the Musical Theater in Irkutsk is unique. The reason for his appearance was the tour of the theater of musical comedy from Gorky. The work of Gorky actors was so much enjoyed by the residents of Irkutsk that the result of the tour was the creation on the basis of the theater of guests from Gorky’s own musical theater. Now it is a modern theater, in its repertoire there are performances, which he is rightly proud of. “Juno and Avos”, “Bat” - these musical works will never leave indifferent fans of the theater.

To describe the events of the life of the theater, reviews were used that were printed after new performances were published in the press, minutes of meetings of the artistic council, and discussions of critics. Naturally, the author of the book included his personal memories in it. Photos of theater actors in performances and in life became illustrations for the book. In total, about 400 pieces were collected for publication - filmed in recent years, as well as selected from the theater archive. The book became both a chronicle of the theater and a memory of people who dedicated their lives to it.
