Norwegian and Russian historians have published a joint book "Russia is getting closer"

KIRKENES. As part of the events dedicated to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the northern part of Norway from the Nazi invaders, Norwegian and Russian historians presented the book "Russia is getting closer." The conference “70 years of the liberation of East Finnmark”, held in the Norwegian city of Kirkenes, opened a chain of festivals dedicated to the actions of World War II.

The book “Russia is getting closer”, shown to the conference participants, is a joint work on which Norwegian and Russian historians worked for about five years. The book is a collection of various historical articles, the project is organized by two Russian and two Norwegian research centers, including the Northern Federal University. “The cooperation of the historians of our countries has been fruitfully developing since the 1990s. We do not feel any cooling. Work is underway on the second collection, ”said Alexei Komarov, head of the Northern Europe Center for the Institute of World History.

At the end of the conference, the film “Three days until the fall” was shown to its participants, telling about the events of 1940-1944 in the northern border region. The events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the northern part of Norway also include tours of Kirkenes and its environs, laying flowers near the monuments of Soviet soldiers and the fallen Norwegian patriots.
