Presentation of the National Literary Prize "The Shield and Sword of the Fatherland"

MOSCOW. The awarding of the laureates of the first National Literary Prize “Shield and Sword of the Fatherland” was held on Monday, December 22 in the capital of Russia. The awards were given to writers whose works reflected the ideas of patriotism, national pride and military honor.

The literary award “The Shield and Sword of the Fatherland” was held for the first time, just three months ago it was established by the newspaper “Military-Industrial Courier” together with the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation. But, despite its very short existence, the organizing committee received over 250 works to participate in the competition, of which 211 works by 141 authors from all regions of Russia were eligible for the award.

Twice Hero of Socialist Labor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, well-known aircraft designer Genrikh Novozhilov became the first laureate of the National Literary Prize “The Shield and Sword of the Fatherland”. His autobiographical book “About Myself and Airplanes” received the highest marks from a competent jury, among which were not only military, but also creative people, for which she received an award.

Also among the winners is the work of Yuri Shavkunov and Olga Kalinina, "Fate by the Name of the Plant" about the Sarapul Electric Generator Plant; the book "Under the heading" Secret "by Sergey Zhmakin, which tells the story of the creation of the first infantry fighting vehicles; documentary and prose work “AK-47. Weapons legend ”by Elena Kalashnikova, in which she talks about her father, the legendary weapons designer.

Also, as part of the Shield and Sword of the Fatherland Prize, special prizes were awarded to Dmitry Tatarinov and Ivan Kolomiytsev (Yeysk) and Andrey Andreev (Serov, Sverdlovsk Region), participants in the youth contest “Grenadiers, Go!”
