National winner Leonid Yuzefovich wished success to the mysterious Odnibibl

ST. PETERSBURG. The jury of the National Bestseller decided on the winner.

The motto for the “Wake up Famous” prize in the situation with the current winner seems somewhat belated. Historical detectives with detective Putinin brought popularity to Leonid Yuzefovich in the early 2000s. The first story was published back in 1977. In the filmography of Leonid Abramovich, three full meters and several serials shot according to his scripts. The current “Nationalbest” for the novel “Winter Road” is not the first in the author’s piggy bank. Yuzefovich became the first winner of this award, established in 2001 by writer and book publisher Konstantin Dublin.

The novel Cranes and Dwarfs brought him the Big Book in 2009. Yuzefovich’s candidacy did not receive unanimous support, but half of the jury members’ votes were enough for a convincing victory. The book of the mysterious Michael Odnobibla, according to the winner, also deserves the keen interest of the readership. The first publications of a graduate of the Gorky Literary Institute, a student of Alexander Rekemchuk and a former “Afghan” belong to the 90s, after which a long pause was made in literary activity. It was between these two authors - Yuzefovich and the author with the pseudonym "Single Bible" - that the struggle for the main prize unfolded.

“Winter Road”, work on which lasted about 20 years, took place thanks to a diary found in the archive. The documentary novel about the attempt of the “white” General Pepeliaev to change the course of the post-revolutionary history of Russia with his campaign to Yakutia is reliable, fascinating and seeringly relevant. Yuzefovich’s thoughts about the ambiguity of heroes and events of almost a hundred years ago are easily extrapolated to the tragic upheavals of today.
