MOSCOW. The results of the XIV Prize "Yasnaya Polyana" have been summed up.

In times of crisis, books gradually turn into a luxury item. With a shortage of funds, the choice between a quality published volume and a meager food package is obvious. Writers in this situation are also suffering. At the Bolshoi Theater, the words of Vladimir Makanin were voiced. that domestic literature rests only on the courage of those who deal with it. And the support of those who are still interested in the appearance of good books allows the masters of the printed word to see their works not only in the desk drawer. In the absence of the sick author of the book “Where did the sky meet with the hills”, which won the nomination “Modern Classics”, his daughter Ekaterina Makanina received the award.

The victory in the nomination "XXI Century" was first won by two writers at once - Narine Abgaryan and Alexander Grigorenko. "The works of modern authors, bearing the ideals of humanity and morality." These words in the award clause are written about their books. About the reflexive “Lost the blind dudu” by Grigorenko about the deaf and blessed boy Shura, hopelessly parallel to the surrounding reality. About pierced with warmth and love, “Three apples fell from the sky” Abgaryan. The story of the Armenian village of Maran, in which lonely old people live their lives supporting each other, without losing dignity and inner light, is like a life buoy for those who are bewildered and disappointed. Therefore, handing Abgaryan also a special prize “Readers’ Choice” from Samsung (a trip to Seoul) - the result is quite logical.

The book “Forester and his nymph” by Marina Nefedova became the winner in the category “Childhood. Adolescence. Youth". The best foreign writer was recognized Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk (Ferit Orhan Pamuk) for the novel Kafamda Bir Tuhaflık ("My strange thoughts") in the translation of Apollinaria Avrutina, also awarded this year’s prize. Pamuk plans to come for his award at the end of winter.
