MOSCOW. Literary awards began the long-distance race.

The difficult economic situation did not become a reason for refusing literary prizes. The opening of new seasons follows one after another. Texts are accepted, long lists are compiled, possible favorites are predicted. In a few months, it will become clear whether someone from the “old guard” will win or if a new genius will appear out of nowhere.

The National Bestseller, launched for the 16th time, managed to not only survive, but also gain new sponsors. Among the applicants are a writer, literary critic, researcher of the works of Gorky and Tolstoy Pavel Basinsky, prose writer and journalist Lev Danilkin, Bunin Prize laureate Maya Kucherskaya, philologist Andrei Astvatsaturov. At the end of winter, the names of those who entered the long list will be announced.

February 10 for the 14th time began accepting the work of "Yasnaya Polyana". Three nominations allow us to note the best works for children, translated literature and the works of modern authors, reflecting current trends in the development of Russian literature. The winner in the "Modern Classics" category is determined by the jury members without participating in the online voting. Preference is given to literary works that have undoubted literary advantages, but have not received due recognition. A long list will be announced in June.

The Big Book Organizing Committee will unveil a list of potential triumphs on the last day of February. What will be the percentage of novels and documentary prose left on the long list, whether regional and metropolitan authors will be included there in equal proportions will be known on February 29.

One of the youngest awards is the Russian-Italian BELLA. It was founded in 2012 on the initiative of Boris Messerer in memory of the amazing poet Bella Akhmadulina. Acceptance of works for the fourth season contest ends March 1. The main goal of BELLA is to encourage Russian-speaking and Italian poets. A special prize “Touch of Kazan” is awarded to young poetesses from the Republic of Tatarstan.
