The capital of Bashkortostan is a city that played a special role in the history of the family of Vladimir Spivakov. His mother, pianist Ekaterina Weintraub, was evacuated here from the besieged Leningrad. Here she met a former Odessa citizen who ended up in Bashkiria after being wounded and demobilized.

In Ufa in 1944, Vladimir Theodorovich himself was born. Soon after World War II, the family moved to Leningrad, but Spivakov never forgot about his small homeland. In the crisis year of 1998, a charitable foundation was created in Ufa to support gifted musicians. Over the years, more than 30 scholarships have been allocated, a large number of workshops have been held, musical instruments made or made by renowned craftsmen have been donated or given for long-term use.

The famous musician regularly invites talented children to participate in the most prestigious concerts. In September 2015, the classical music festival Vladimir Spivakov Invites was held in the capital of Bashkortostan. Another great news from the maestro was the decision to hold the International Competition for Young Violinists in his hometown, in which musicians 15–26 years old could take part.

In addition to material rewards, the laureates of the competition will receive magnificent violins by Italian and French masters. The names of the best young musicians will be known in May this year. The story repeats itself 18 years ago. In the period that is not the most favorable for the Russian economy, the initiative of Vladimir Teodorovich will make itself possible for the future Paganini, Oistrakh, Menukhin. Spivakov talks about how important it is for children to know that they are loved. The competition for young violinists was created just for this.

The jury was elected by the famous violinist Mikhail Kopelman, who performed on the same stage with many great musicians for many years. A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, who worked at the Borodin Quartet for twenty years, moved to America in 1993. In 2002, he founded the actively touring Kopelman Quartet. More than once became a member and jury member of the most prestigious music festivals. He has been teaching at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester for more than 10 years.
