At the opening of Stravinsky’s year, music and his teachers sounded at the Moscow Conservatory

MOSCOW. A concert dedicated to the Year of Igor Stravinsky was held in the Great Hall of the Conservatory.

The year of Igor Fedorovich Stravinsky, who will be 135 in June, began in December. 02. 12. 2016 at the Mariinsky Theater, the premiere of the 12-minute work “Funeral Song”, lost forever, as many years have believed, took place. Preparation for overhaul at the conservatory and the dean of the faculty of musicology at the conservatory of St. Petersburg Natalia Braginskaya saved him from oblivion. It was she who two years ago managed to find in Mont Blanc the notes written off and forgotten in the library archive of Stravinsky’s symphonic play, dedicated to the memory of Rimsky-Korsakov. He was the main musical mentor of Igor Fedorovich, strict, but deeply benevolent, generous and patient. Private lessons twice a week for several years, assistance in creating the first works became universities, which allowed to adequately cut Stravinsky’s original talent.

The Funeral Song was performed in 1909 as part of the Russian Symphony Concert in Memory of the Great Russian Composer. Stravinsky mourned the teacher’s death deeply and sincerely, which was reflected in the symphonic play found a century later. She took pride of place in the concert program held on February 9 at the Moscow Conservatory, ”and was first performed on the stage in the capital. That evening, a suite from the famous ballet Firebird and fragments of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Golden Cockerel also sounded. The symphony orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory was led by Vladimir Yurovsky, who more than once performed the works of his beloved composer together with Russian and foreign groups.
