The piano behind the scenes - an unexpected gift from the past Automatic translate
MEDVEZHEGORSK. A unique piano has been discovered at the local Culture House.
The small Karelian town is well known to fans of domestic cinema. Here, on the shore of Lake Onega, filming of such films as “And Trees Grow on the Rocks” by Stanislav Rostotsky, “Love and Pigeons” by Vladimir Menshov, “Fourth Height” by Igor Voznesensky and many others took place.
Before the war, a theater with brass and symphony orchestras, opera, ballet and drama troupes worked in Medvezhyegorsk. The artists and musicians who worked in them were in these places not of their own free will. Significant human resources were required for the construction of the White Sea-Baltic Canal. “Enemies of the people”, which the Soviet government had discovered a lot in the early 30s, were best re-educated, in the opinion of its leaders, precisely in such harsh conditions. For the intelligentsia, they did not make indulgences, because singers, ballerinas, wonderful musicians, skilled technical workers were found among the prisoners. During the Great Patriotic War, the theater was destroyed.
One of the main cultural centers of modern Medvezhyegorsk at the end of last year was not just repaired, but unexpectedly acquired a rare tool. Not in the bushes, but in one of the nooks behind the stage, a piano with the serial number “20,000” was discovered, created more than a hundred years ago by the famous firm of J. Becker. There are only four such tools. With a rock crystal cover, with a nickel-plated brass frame instead of traditional cast iron. According to one version, a rare grand piano is a miraculously preserved property of the theater of prisoners. It requires adjustment and restoration after so many years of oblivion, after which it can again please with the power of sound and modulations of classic lovers.
The significance of the find is evidenced by the highest rating received by the instruments of J. Becker, founded in 1841, from such great musicians as Schumann, Liszt, Taneyev, Saint-Saens. The Beckers received many awards, including the Grand Prix of the 1905 Milan Exhibition, as well as the awards of the World Exhibition in Antwerp. They were preferred to play by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Alexander Scriabin, Anton Rubinstein, Rimsky-Korsakov, members of the royal family played music.
