In the Saratov Youth Theater the premiere of the student performance "Armless from Spokane"

SARATOV. Students of the Theater Institute presented the audience with the premiere of a diploma performance based on the play of the popular playwright from Ireland Martin McDonagh, whose works are popular among directors around the world. The Saratov Youth Theater also did not ignore the work of the Irish director, in 1997 the play “Queen of Beauty” appeared in the repertoire of the theater, to this day it has enjoyed success with the audience.

Now, on the Small Stage of the Youth Theater, the student team showed the play “Armless from Spokane” to the Saratov audience, its story simultaneously shocking and making laugh. Even the lack of stage experience among student actors did not prevent them from adequately acquainting the audience with the magnificent work of the Irish author, each new play of which instantly scattered across the stages.

The performance was staged by the acting teacher Artyom Kuzin, who was not so long ago a student of the national artist, Professor A. G. Galko, who is the artistic director of the course, whose students play in the premiere performance. Artyom Kuzin is an experienced director, in his creative luggage there is a tangible number of performances staged on the stage of the Youth Theater. He worked with students.

The genre of the play “Armless from Spokane” is difficult to determine - it contains black comedy with a hard satire, a crime thriller and everyday stories full of metaphors. The protagonist, many years ago, was left without a left hand, and now, looking for a lost limb, he wanders around the world, considering this search the main goal of his life. He hates all the characters that meet on the way, a little like a maniac, but gradually the audience begins to sympathize with each of the characters in the play. Everyone can make a mistake, it is important to have a desire to correct it.
