Pyatigorsk became the capital of theater festivals, accepting two projects at once

Pyatigorsk. At the same time, two festival projects started on June 7 in the city, which is the capital of the North Caucasus District - Pyatigorsk. The festival of small towns is a traditional event. This year it is already the eleventh time. A new festival project was added to it, organized by the State Theater of Nations, with the active support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The Festival of Small Towns is a competitive show of the achievements of provincial theaters, in which 13 theaters take part. Among them are theater groups from small cities located from the Kaliningrad region to the Perm region. The jury, which determines the winners of the project “Festival of theaters of small towns”, is headed by Olga Ostroumova, the people’s artist of the Russian Federation, beloved by the theater public. The winner of the festival will receive a worthy reward - it will be shown on the stage of the Theater of Nations.

The repertoire of the festival is diverse - provincial theaters brought performances based on the plays of the classical repertoire to Pyatigorsk, and the works of contemporary playwrights were not disregarded. Master classes will be held, meetings will be held with famous actors, so that the schedule of the festival, designed for ten days, is completely filled.

The goal of the new project, called "Theaters of Russia - the North Caucasus" is different from the already held festival brand. As part of this project, its creators intend to acquaint the North Caucasus region with the best works of the capital’s theaters. There are enough difficulties in the work of the festival, since its holding is planned at the stage venues in different cities. The Vakhtangans were the first to perform the project, presenting the famous "Masquerade" performance on the stage of the Stavropol Operetta Theater.
