The Moscow Roadside Festival gathered studios and theaters of small forms

MOSCOW. On the stage of the capital’s theater "Theater Mansion" on November 4, the festival "Moscow Roadside" opened. The festival program included 15 performances presented by youth studios and small theaters. Most of these groups are unfamiliar to the theater public - it is difficult to see their work, since many of them do not have their own stage.

Leonid Krasnov, artistic director of the “Theater Mansion”, which hosted the festival project, in an interview with reporters noted that the main idea of the festival is to give professional non-governmental theaters an opportunity to gather in a single space, creating their work away from popular theaters in the capital.

There is not much information about such groups, as well as opportunities to show their performances to spectators. The performances of these theaters are not underground - most of the performances preserve the classical perception of the theater. In their repertoire, the performances are subtle and thoughtful, talking about human problems.

The festival program provides for master classes and discussions on topics related to problems of non-state theaters. Especially important is the seminar planned for November 7th, intended for directors and theater leaders. His theme is dedicated to finding sources of financing necessary to support the work of small theaters.

On the first festival day, the audience saw the performance of the FUTURooM theater-laboratory “Mayakovsky. Top secret". The performance staged by Maria Shmaevich is based not only on the poet’s texts. When creating it, biography facts, materials of the investigation were used. The story about the life and death of the poet became another declaration of love for an extraordinary person.
