Opening of the Moscow Regional Provincial Theater - performance "Found a scythe on a stone"

MOSCOW. A new theater has appeared in the capital’s theater space. On Sunday, December 22nd, the performance “Found a scythe on a stone” opened the first season of the Moscow Regional Provincial Theater. The play was staged based on plays by A. Ostrovsky, the artistic director of the theater, Sergei Bezrukov, and is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the playwright.

The main motive of the play is the plot of the play "Mad Money". Initially, it was called "Found a scythe on a stone," and it was chosen by Sergei Bezrukov for his production. The play also features the heroes of “Dowry” and the play “Talents and Fans”.

According to the director, the choice of works by A. Ostrovsky for the first performance is not accidental. Since the theater is Provincial, it is logical that his first work will be devoted to people from the province, about which A. Ostrovsky wrote his plays. The main line of the performance was the story of businessman Savva Vasilkov (Dmitry Dyuzhev) and the ruined noblewoman Lidia Cheboksarova (Karina Andolenko).

Four months passed from the beginning of rehearsals to the premiere of the performance. The work went on in a busy rhythm - after all, the characters in the play are about three dozen, while, in the course of the twisted plot, some of them reincarnate in others. The result of the work could be seen on the faces of the audience sitting in the hall - they were filled with emotions.

The first scenes of the performance were reminiscent of “Dowry”. Only a little later it becomes clear that the plot of another play unfolds on the stage. Bezrukov had no desire to transfer the action of the performance to our days, but it is difficult not to notice the similarities between the realities of the times - little has changed in Russia over two centuries. The characters in the play are in many ways similar to the people around us today. However, unlike A. Ostrovsky, Sergei Bezrukov made the ending of the play happy.
