Thirty Years Celebrated at Oleg Tabakov’s Theater

MOSCOW. On the first March day in the legendary "Snuffbox" began to celebrate the anniversary. The Theater of Oleg Tabakov turned thirty years old. That is how many years have passed since the premiere of the performance “Armchair”, the basis of which was the sensational story “State of emergency of a regional scale” written by Yuri Polyakov in those years.

Most of the participants in this performance were graduates of the GITIS acting course, led by Oleg Tabakov. Later many students of the master came to the theater, who became in 1985 the rector of the Moscow Art Theater School. The names of former students are now familiar to viewers.

In 1990, young artists Yevgeny Mironov and Vladimir Mashkov, who immediately took an active part in the life of the theater, entered the “Snuffbox” stage. Three years after coming to the theater, Vladimir Mashkov presented his first directorial work, “Passion for Bumbarash,” and a year later another premiere, staged by the young director, the performance “Mortal Blow” took place.

Students of the Mkhatov school-studio participated in these performances, after which they became artists of the "Snuffbox". Among them was a young artist Sergei Bezrukov, who today is the head of the Provincial Theater and a famous film actor. Over the years of the existence of The Snuffbox, performances by many famous directors have been staged on its stage.

Valery Fokin and Kama Ginkas, Adolf Shapiro and Mindaugas Karbauskis worked with the artists of the Tabakova Theater. Artists and directors of the theater received the most prestigious theater awards in Russia. On the day of the anniversary, guests of the historical scene saw the exhibition "We are 30 years old." They also attended the presentation of a large-scale photo album released to the memorable date, called “History in thirty seasons”. His photographs show the whole history of the theater.
