For the first time in Irkutsk the premiere of the play "Cyrano de Bergerac" in the form of a musical

IRKUTSK. On the evening of December 18, fans of the Irkutsk Musical Theater saw the premiere of the musical based on Edmond Rostan’s play “Cyrano de Bergerac”, staged by St. Petersburg director Vladimir Podgorodinsky.

Six months have passed from the beginning of work on the play to its premiere. During this time, complex scenery was created, costumes for the participants of the performance were prepared, and choreographer S. Ignatiev staged 24 dance numbers. On the day of the premiere of the audience, a surprise was waiting for the performance to begin.

With the help of the Antiquo More studio, which held a master class in ancient dance in the theater lobby, they were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a medieval ball. Some of the audience even managed to learn several movements of ancient dances. Of course, the most interesting events were waiting for them in the auditorium.

The romantic story of the fate of the legendary Frenchman never left the audience indifferent. Therefore, the play was often staged on the stages of drama theaters. Irkutsk viewers first saw her in the form of a musical.

On the stage of the theater of Paris of the 17th century, where the famous poet lives, who does not know defeats in numerous duels, Cyrano de Bergerac. Legends telling about his life say that once he fought along with hundreds of opponents, becoming the winner.

One problem exists in his life - the constant ridicule of others causes his huge nose. He does not forgive these ridicule to anyone; they often cause numerous duels.

But if Cyrano’s duels are not terrible, then falling in love with the beautiful Roxana awakens in him behavior that is unusual for a brave man. He is shy of confessing his feelings, does not count on reciprocity at all. Now, viewers of Irkutsk can see the story of this tragic love, told by the language of music and dance.
