STD Expert Council Selects Nail of the Season Award Winners

MOSCOW. The press service of the STD on February 13 announced the winners of the annual theater prize "The Nail of the Season". For the twelfth time, this award determines the best premiere performances of the capital’s theaters. However, the name of the winning performance will be announced only on March 10th. The award ceremony will be held in the theater center STD "On Strastnoy". Then the winner will be named, who will be awarded the main award of the competition of the prime capital’s theaters - “Big Crystal Nail”.

Spectators come to this ceremony not only to find out which performance deserves an honorable award. Awarding becomes a real witty performance, annually collecting full house. The author of this original performance is permanent - director Konstantin Bogomolov, traditionally leading the award ceremony. The assistant to the director is also unchanged - the actor of the theater named after Vakhtangov Sergey Epishev.

The procedure for selecting performances worthy of being included in the list of prize winners is the same. An expert council of theater critics evaluates the quality of the premiere performances presented during the season by Moscow theaters.

Then experts draw up a “list of finalists” representing the most interesting works. All performances from this list are awaiting an award - “Small Crystal Nails” by the Jury, headed by Alexander Kalyagin, chairman of the Theater of Artists, awarding the main prize for the best premiere of the season.

This year, among the winners of the Moscow Theater Prize for the first time included the work of the Puppet Theater. Obraztsova - the play "The Old Senior and…", staged by Victor Nikonenko. In recent years, the performances of this theater have not been awarded prizes, so receiving even the "Little Crystal Nail" is a very important event for the theater.
