Taganka Theater will close for reconstruction in the near future

MOSCOW. The media reported that in the near future the reconstruction of the old building of the Taganka Theater will begin. It is known that the main attention will be paid to the technical equipment of the scene. The appearance of the auditorium will not change, but its public areas may appear in front of theater fans in a new interior.

The exact timing of the start of the planned reconstruction is not yet known, as the metropolitan authorities are holding a competition for a theater restoration project. Applications from bidders are accepted until August 7th. According to the director of Taganka, Vladimir Fleisher, the time that will be spent on repairing the theater can only be said after determining the winner of the current competition. It is still known that the city authorities plan to allocate about 160 million rubles for future repair and restoration work.

Naturally, viewers awaiting the start of a new season at the Taganka Theater are concerned about the question - when and where will they be able to see the performances of their favorite theater. The press reports that the theater team will be provided with other scenic venues. However, there is no information on when the theater will begin to work, and there are no specific addresses where Taganka’s performances can be seen.

In response to the appeals of journalists, Vladimir Fleisher said that the performances will be held in the capital’s cultural palaces, but so far there are only verbal agreements. Specific addresses will be announced only after the conclusion of official contracts. It is planned that viewers will be able to see the main performances of the current repertoire, among which are productions significant for the theater - “The Master and Margarita”, “The Good Man…”.

The theater will start operating in the capital at the end of September, and on September 15 Taganka will meet with Irkutsk spectators.
