Kostroma hosts the 13th theater festival dedicated to A. N. Ostrovsky

KOSTROMA. During the week, theater-goers of the city will be able to see performances created based on the plays of the author, whose name is the Kostroma Drama Theater - Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky. On the first December evening, the theater forum was opened for the 13th time on the stage of this theater, which was first held in 1973.

"Days of Ostrovsky in Kostroma" collect theater groups from different cities. Each of them represents the best performance staged in his theater based on the work of the famous playwright. The history of this festival began in Shchelykovo, where in 1948 the first meeting of theater groups took place in the estate of A. Ostrovsky.

In 1973, the country celebrated the 150th anniversary of the playwright, and there were a significant number of theaters wishing to celebrate the anniversary, the festival was transferred to the stage of the Kostroma drama. Initially, the artists met every five years, on the anniversary dates of A.K. Ostrovsky. Since 2008, the festival has been held annually, in early December.

The festival program was opened by Kostroma artists. The hosts of the festival welcomed the guests of Kostroma and their fans with the performance “Dowry”, not participating in the competition program. In total, five theaters participate in the festival, including hospitable hosts - the Kostroma Drama Theater.

Unfortunately, due to the illness of the leading artist, the theater could not come from Tomsk. However, the audience who decided to see the performance announced by Tomichi will not remain offended. They will be replaced by artists of the Kostroma drama with a pre-premiere screening of their new work - “Strange Miss Savage”. They will also end the festival with a show of the performance “Thunderstorm”.

Theaters from Kineshma, Lipetsk, Moscow and Ryazan participate in competitive festival displays. The festival jury included the best theater critics of Russia.
