The world of "special people" in the play "Mysterious night killing of a dog" was shown on another scene of "Contemporary"

MOSCOW. On the 3rd stage of Sovremennik on March 3, a new work of director Yegor Peregudov was presented. Its name is "The Mysterious Night Kill of a Dog." The basis for the play was the novel of the same name, written by British writer Mark Haddon. This book has been awarded several prestigious literary awards; its sold editions have reached more than two million copies.

The playwright Syman Stevens created the play, which in 2012 appeared in the repertoire of the Royal Theater of Great Britain. Then came the film, directed by the English director Marianne Elliott. The novel owes such popularity not only to its artistic merits, but also to the theme of the story told in it.

There are not many books that tell about the life of “special” people whose life goes on in a world different from what is usual for us. The protagonist of the novel and the play, staged in many theaters in Europe and the United States, is a fifteen-year-old boy named Christopher suffering from Asperger Syndrome. Experts say that this disease belongs to one of the varieties of autism.

This disease is difficult if you need to communicate with other people. The performer of the leading role in the play of Sovremennik, artist Shamil Khamatov, said that the work on the role was not easy for him. Each rehearsal became a stress for him.

The performance begins at the moment when Christopher discovers the corpse of a neighbor’s dog. The young man’s decision to find the culprit was the first step in going beyond his usual life. Everything that happens to him next will be shown to the actors participating in the performance. Great help in creating the play was provided by children from the autistic world. They helped in the design of the scene, according to their drawings a playbill was created.
