The XXIII Festival of Russian Cinema "Window to Europe" will be held in Vyborg

SELECTION From August 7 to 13, for one week in Vyborg the “Window to Europe” will open. The program of the review of the XXIII Festival of Russian Cinema includes contests of fiction, documentary, animated films of Russian and joint production. The symbol of the festival in connection with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory was the image of a Russian soldier, once created by Vasily Shukshin in the film "They Fought for their Homeland."

The opening film of the film festival will also be dedicated to the festive date - viewers will see the premiere of the film "Far 45th… Meetings on the Elbe" directed by Mira Todorovskaya and Pyotr Aleksovsky.

The main feature film competition, which will be evaluated by screenwriter and director Svetlana Proskurina, actress and director Natalya Kudryashova, director Vladimir Kott, composer Alexei Zubarev, and actor Alexei Vertkov, presents twelve full-length films. Among them are the films “Let’s Change” by Anna Evremova, “The Vacant Life of the Chef” by Rustam Ilyasov, “Last Night” by Arseny Gonchukov, “Escape from Moskva Baden” by Daria Poltoratskaya, “The Spy’s Soul” by Vladimir Bortko and others.

“It was interesting for us to watch these pictures of the debutants, it was interesting to place them in the competition program. Of course, somewhere, maybe we took a risk, went for an experiment, but it seemed to us that these are such important, significant films that reflect the artistic trends of our time, ”said Alisa Strukova, program director of the film festival.

28 Russian documentary films that year will present the program for non-fiction films of the “Window to Europe” festival. Among them are the tapes “Systo: A Place for Meetings” directed by Vladimir Smorodin, “Boys and Girls of Doctor Zhivago” Olesya Fokina, “The Tree to Be Planted Tomorrow” by Maxim Yakubson, “Kamchatka - A Cure for Hatred” by Yulia Mironova, “I I will definitely be back ”by Artyom Firsanov and others.

In addition, as part of the competitive animation program, 30 cartoons will be presented to viewers, 10 films will be shown as part of the competition program “Fiction films. Coproduction ”, 4 films - the program“ Vyborg Account ”and 10 in the non-competitive program“ Vyborg Premiere ”. Also, the guests of the film festival will be able to see three paintings dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War - these are the paintings “72 Hours” directed by Kira Angelina, “The Road to Berlin” by Sergei Popov and “The One” by Kirill Belevich.

The large-scale film festival “Window to Europe” this year promises to be full of workshops, meetings with famous filmmakers and cultural and entertainment evenings, one of which will be held by the poet Evgeny Yevtushenko.
