In the competitive program of the festival of children’s performances "Harlequin". held in St. Petersburg, six theaters participate

ST. PETERSBURG. The Harlequin festival became a real holiday for young theatergoers in St. Petersburg, which in its program brought together the best performances staged for children in Russian theaters. According to the results of the competition, the participants of which were the six best performances presented to the audience last season, awards will be awarded. The main one will be the Harlequin Award.

This award is an analogue of the prestigious Golden Mask, only gets its best performance for a children’s audience. An expert council worked on the selection of performances for the competition program and did a great job. Among 102 theatrical performances presented by Russian theaters, only 6 performances should be selected.

Alexander Petrov, People’s Artist of Russia, who is the art director of the festival, that having passed such a selection for the right to participate in the competition program, all six contestants can already be considered winners, although the Grand Prix will be an award for only one performance. What awards will be judged by a jury headed by Evgeny Ibragimov, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. He currently leads the Czech Theater under the Lucky Star.

On the opening day of the festival, the actors of the Looking Glass Theater showed the musical performance Noah’s Ark. This theater is the initiator of the birth of "Harlequin", so they do not participate in the competitive program. In total, 11 performances are presented in the non-competitive poster, so they will be shown at different stage venues.

In addition to performances, the program of the festival is planned to conduct a director’s laboratory, for the first time dedicated to the development of a repertoire for teenagers. The performances included in the program "Theater of Equal Opportunities", developed by the festival "Harlequin" will also be shown.
