The results of the annual film festival in Gatchina "Literature and Cinema"

GATCHINA. The results of the Literature and Cinema festival, which ended at the end of April, were an indirect confirmation of the problems of Russian feature films.

The head of "Roskino" Ekaterina Mtsituridze in a recent interview told about the not-so-successful rolling fate of the bulk of new films. An exception is Lebedev’s “Crew”, which hooked a domestic audience with nostalgic hooks of memories of the 1979 version and visual effects, a la Hollywood blockbuster with a dimensionless budget. Therefore, the absence of feature films in the award list of the film forum was partly expected. The main complaints to most of the films presented in Gatchina were the stilts and weakness of the script material, the lack of characters on the screen who want to empathize with, the unconvincing acting and operator decisions.

In the absence of a worthy gaming challenger, the main prizes went to documentary films. The Grand Prix and the prize “Garnet Bracelet” were awarded to the painting “Naum Korzhavin. Time is given… ”by Pavel Mirzoyev. The poet, who left his homeland due to unbearable pressure from the authorities and "lack of air for life" and has been living in Boston since 1973, celebrates his 90th anniversary this year. The best work in the non-gaming category was recognized as the film "The Little Prince" by Olga Privolova about a large family, whose head - the famous Ural poet Oleg Pavlov - decided to make a film based on the work of Saint Exupery. It was left without awards, but the tape of Murad Ibragimbekov about the repressed and shot poet Peretz Markish, in which the wonderful music of Isaac Schwartz sounded, aroused great public interest.

For the film "Adventure" about Petrograd in 1921, created based on the story of Alexander Green and harmoniously combining game moments and animation, its director Irina Evteeva was awarded the title of best director.

The choice of Gatchina as a venue for the festival is not accidental. In a city where every stone breathes history, films have been shot for many decades. Since 1995, a festival has been held in Gatchina that presents the most interesting, innovative and relevant interpretations of literary works in cinema.
