“Battle for Moscow”:
new graffiti appeared on Volokolamsk highway

In Moscow, at 100 Volokolamsk Highway, the grand opening of graffiti was held, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the heroic events of the defense of Moscow, which formed the basis of the famous film epic of Yuri Ozerov “Battle for Moscow”.

- Graffiti based on the drama film “The Battle for Moscow” is the 16th graffiti of the Russian military-historical society. The drawing is dedicated not only to the heroic events of the fall of 1941, but also to summarizing the Year of Russian Cinema. It is very important that domestic filmmakers even today in their work address the topic of Moscow’s defense. An example of this is the feature film “28 Panfilovites, ” said Vladislav Kononov, RVIO Executive Director, at the opening ceremony.

For one day on the Volokolamsk highway was installed the legendary "forty-five" - a 45-mm anti-tank gun. A touching moment of the ceremony was the performance by children from the Domisolka Theater of the famous song “Holy War” (known on the first line of “Get up, the country is huge!”). Igor Popov, head of the Pokrovskoye Administration, Streshnevo, took part in the event.

- Volokolamsk highway and Tushinsky district during the Great Patriotic War were the last frontier in front of the heart of our country - in front of the Kremlin. The oldest residents of the area remember that terrible time. And the appearance of this graffiti on Volokolamsk highway is very symbolic, and commemorative events will be held here, ”said Igor Popov.

The new graffiti is designed to remind residents and guests of the capital of the courageous Soviet soldiers who stopped the enemy on the approaches to Moscow at the cost of their lives, as well as the films that entered the "golden collection" of domestic cinema, on which more than one generation of Soviet and Russian patriots was raised. Commemorative events do not end there.

- November 7, 2016 on Red Square will host ceremonies dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Parade on Red Square 1941. The Russian military-historical society is a co-organizer of this event in the historical part of the Parade. We provide military equipment of the time for the ceremonial passage on Red Square, we take part in exhibiting it in the afternoon, and also act as consultants on issues related to the historical component of the Parade. Young representatives of the military-historical clubs will also take part in the solemn passage, which in stylized form will drive along Red Square in one and a half, just like 75 years ago, the defenders of Moscow went to defend our capital, Vladislav Kononov specified.
