Salvador Dali’s watercolor stolen in Manhattan

Cartel des Don Juan Tenorio watercolor, 1949, Spanish artist Salvador Dali (Salvador Dali, 1904-1989) was stolen from the Venus Over Manhattan gallery, the New York Daily News reports citing New York police. The work is estimated at 150 thousand US dollars.

The crime was committed on June 19, Tuesday, by a thin man aged 35-45, who entered the gallery as a guest and asked the security guard to take some photos. Taking advantage of the officer’s inattention, the thief simply put the picture in a black bag, got into the elevator and calmly left the building.

The crime was filmed, an analysis of which, according to the police, can provide valuable information to the investigation.

The stolen painting is part of the exhibition, which included the work of Andy Warhol, Colleen Dan, Franz von Stuck and others.

Recall that last year, a painting “Composition aux element mecaniques”, French artist Fernand Léger (1881-1955), worth 350 000 USD, was stolen from the Carlyle Hotel in New York, and a month earlier, from Marc Jancou Gallery, in the New York area of Chelsea, has disappeared a collection of tarantula drawings by Steven Parrino, worth $ 30 thousand. Artworks have not yet been found.
