In Serbia, stolen Rembrandt was found

NOVI-GARDEN. A Rembrandt painting stolen in 2006 in Serbia was found. Experts have already confirmed the authenticity of the canvas, which previously belonged to the museum of the second largest city in Serbia, Novi Sad. A portrait of the artist’s father was discovered by police in a private estate in the town of Sremska Mitrovica, but under what circumstances this happened - has not yet been reported. From a statement by law enforcement agencies of the country, it is clear that the discovery of the painting was accompanied by the arrest of four men.

The portrait was painted in 1630 and has a size of 22 by 28 inches. In 2006, two masked men linked the ministers of the museum in Novi Sad and the kidnappers four paintings, including the work of Rembrandt and Rubens. The estimated value of the painting is about 3.4 million euros. This is the second abduction in the history of the picture. The first incident occurred in 1983, but two years later the painting was discovered in Spain.
