The Pope passed the Sistine Chapel to Porsche

For all Porsche fans, a field trip might be comparable to a religious experience, but still not enough to compare with a visit to the Sistine Chapel. So the owners of the company reasoned and decided for the first time in history to rent the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican for a corporate charity event.

Forty Porsche supporters paid $ 5,900 each to become the first group to host a private tour of one of the most famous examples of Renaissance art. The event was held as part of the Pope Francis project “Art for Charity”.

It must be admitted that the tour organized by Porsche is far from what a tourist usually gets on a standard excursion. Most of those who come to the Sistine Chapel (20,000 visitors per day) can only briefly inspect the chapel. While Porsche customers enjoyed a private concert while admiring Michelangelo’s famous ceiling.

The event was part of an exclusive four-day tour to Rome, organized by Porsche, owned by Volkswagen (VLKAF). In addition to the concert, it included access to the Vatican Museums, a gala dinner and a trip to the summer papal residence in Castell Gandolfo on Lago di Garda cars - the latest Porsche model.

This was the first time that the head of the Vatican agreed to use the property of the Catholic Church for a corporate event (although the Church itself denies this wording).

“The Sistine Chapel can never be leased because it is not a commercial property,” said Vatican spokesman Monsignor Paolo Nicolini.

Instead, the Holy See notes that the chapel is now accessible to private groups. The Vatican hopes other companies will follow suit, and will also organize similar events.

“This initiative is directly organized by the Vatican Museums and is intended for large companies,” said Nicolini.

True, companies already hoping to hold their next Christmas party in the Sistine Chapel will be disappointed - the Vatican intends to use the famous chapel for an art event.
