More than ten thousand stolen artifacts seized from the house of an antique dealer in Bullas

BULLIAS. The fact that Benito Amor kept archaeological and cultural values at home was revealed back in March. The other day, the police completed an inventory of seized valuables - more than 10,000 items were on the list, including a fragment of the cross on which Jesus Christ was allegedly crucified and whose authenticity was confirmed by experts in the Vatican. The collection also contained other religious artifacts and works of art, the appearance of which the antique dealer could not explain in his house. Amor is currently in custody, and Spanish authorities are deciding what to do with his collection.

In relation to some items of the collection, the theft has already been confirmed, the accomplice of the antiquary is under investigation. In total, about 4,000 archaeological finds, 5,000 coins of different cultures and historical periods, more than 150 religious artifacts, 100 paleontological objects, 40 paintings and 30 manuscripts and books dating mainly from the 16th-19th centuries were seized in the house. In addition, the police discovered a large collection of antique furniture and interior items belonging to the aristocratic houses of Murcia.
