Lecture by Ivan Novikov "How has art become modern?"

Over the past half century, the concept of "art" has changed and expanded greatly. At first glance, there is an abyss of misunderstanding between the “classical” and the “modern” literary work. But is it really so? Why, as in the 19th century, viewers at current exhibitions are wondering - is this art? And really, what is art today?

Ivan Novikov is an artist and researcher of contemporary art. Graduate of the Art Institute. Surikov and the Baza Institute of Contemporary Art, in which he teaches painting. Nominee for the Kandinsky Prize (2015), nominee for the Innovation Award (2016). Lives and works in Moscow and Hue, Vietnam.
